What's a good way to distance myself M20 from this girl F20?

Just to begin with, there was this girl who lived in my city, but moved away to another country. After she moved away we began talking, and eventually said we had feelings for each other after a year and a half. However, we came to the conclusion that the logistics of a relationship wouldn't really work out, although I didn't want to admit it at the time. We didn't talk for a bit afterwards, and started talking regularly again. However, everytime I talk to her I all I can think of is how much I'd want to be with her. I try not talking to her for a week or two at a time, but she'll always message me and we start talking for hours at a time because it feels so effortless and I don't want to be mean and shut down the conversation. I don't know that she has many very close friends and I wouldn't feel right cutting contact completely, but I know I'm never gonna get over her if we're still talking all the time.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
