How to "loosen up" without requiring something from him?

My partner is smokin' hot and has a lovely, thick penis. We usually don't do much foreplay when we have sex (I'll often suck his dick for a bit but that's about it), but the sex itself is awesome and steamy and he always makes sure I orgasm before he does. I'm always turned on when we go at it but sometimes my vag isn't super wet/open at the beginning due to lack of physical stimulation, which can be an issue given his dimensions. Usually we use a bit of spit as lube, it's a little tight at first, but gets going pretty quick. However, several times now I've experienced vaginal tearing that caused me to bleed onto his dick. It's not super painful (even kind of feels good to get "stretched" like that) but nevertheless super embarrassing for me and I'm sure a total turn off for him. I don't really want to ask him for foreplay because I'm otherwise satisfied without it.
