Is asking to kiss someone lame?

I'm 19 and this is really only the second person I've went on a proper date with. I went out on a first date today and it felt like it was going really well! We were saying goodbye at the end of the night, we hugged and when we came out of the hug It just felt right for a kiss and I really wanted to but I got nervous... So I just asked "can I kiss you?" and she kind of giggled and said "yeah" but now I'm a bit paranoid that was a really lame thing to do because I know people like people who take charge..
