Using lube makes sex feel less pleasurable for me? (male)

My girlfriend has trouble getting wet enough for sex sometimes so we use a water based lube. However, I’ve noticed that sex becomes much less pleasurable for me. It feels less tight and more slippery, but my girlfriend says the lube makes it feel better for her.

I’m wondering why this is. Can too much lube be a bad thing? I used to masturbate with a tight grip to porn for many years, (sometimes with little to no lube/lotion) so I’m wondering if it has something to do with this as well.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
