are dating apps worth it?

19F, sophomore at a university in NYC. my school is also small so i’m afraid of disaster and rumors if a relationship goes wrong. for that reason i’ve been thinking that maybe i should just follow the trend and get on a dating app? i’ve had 3 bfs and one gf before, all ended amicably except one so i’d say i’m somewhat experienced and confident. i’m a chatterbox so i don’t mind dates and the like.

disclaimer, i’m not really into hookups. i’m super scared of STIs and weirdos lol. do you guys find that apps can help you find genuine relationships and good experiences? i’ve heard some.... distasteful details from girls i know who use tinder etc so i’m wondering if anyone would have any hopefully positive insight or advice!
