I don't know how to help.
My wife has a lot on her plate. Being in the military, I travel a lot. For her- between being in school full time and raising our son, her day is a constant balancing act of schedules and needs from our family and her academics. I'm fantastic when I am home because it's as easy as me stepping in to take some of the workload from her and help around the house so she can focus on herself. However, I always feel like me "trying to help" just frustrates her more when we're talking on the phone because I'm constantly trying to find the right thing to say. I find it hard to share my day with her at times too because she feels jealous. I still get weekends off when I travel so there are oppurtunities to explore new areas but she's stuck at home in the chaos of trying to keep the home together and she does a kickass job at it, too. I don't know what to do for her with all of this distance between us at times.
