/u/that_dumpster_fire on Needing to explain

It didn't come off as rude. I can definitely understand your confusion involving my assumption. And high school age here in America is between 13 and 18, though I did know a few people who were 19 and still in high school which is uncommon.

A great deal of American teenagers are incredibly invasive with sex talk. As an example, I mentioned to a classmate that I had a boyfriend and, for my birthday, she gave me a jumbo pack of glow-in-the-dark condoms. Others would ask if we'd "done it" yet and I was propositioned by several guys to "meet up to study" after school. Obviously it wasn't books they wanted to study. If you were a virgin in high school you were made fun of so I pretended that I wasn't. It's also really common here to be promiscuous and I knew a lot of people who would meet up in hotels after school to have sex with their significant others.

I honestly can't imagine going through that time of my life without other kids talking about sex all the time.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.
