Need advice on if girl is trying to get me jealous or if I’m just super deep in the friendzone

So I (male of 16 years) have liked this girl ( 17 years old) for a while now and I was pretty sure she liked me back too. Her friends had told me that she definitely had a crush on me. But then today we were talking about how broke we were and she randomly changed the subject on how hot another guy (mutual friend) is. I have no idea if she’s trying to get me jealous or if she just thinks of me as a friend. Please help!

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
