How can I make shower sex better?

Hey! So me and a girl met up earlier today. We had sex in the shower (shower in a hostel, so it was in a public place pretty much). This was only the second time I had shower sex. It felt pretty uncomfortable, like it was hard to adjust everything and the only position I could really do was doggy style, and some variation of it.

It was fun and all but really uncomfortable. How can I minimize feeling so uncomfortable? Or is that just the nature of shower sex?

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
