How do you know when you are ready to date or does it just happen?

So I (23) guess I’m kinda just curious as to how people have started dating/getting in a relationship. Was there a point where you decided you were open to a relationship? Actively seeking one? Or did it just randomly happen?

Ive been single my entire life and have gone on a few dates, chatted on dating apps, etc. but never anything further. I get random bouts of loneliness (especially during rom coms lol) but the actual thought of a relationship kinda sounds like a lot of work. I would say I’m happy in life, I have activities I enjoy, friends I like to hang out with, etc. Honestly minus small moments I don’t really feel the need to date/have a relationship but I also wonder if that will ever change. So I guess for those who were single for a long time and were happy/content while single how/why did you start dating/get in a relationship, etc?

My (27f) gf (27f) is getting tired of me not sharing intimate/ personal info about me

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now. We hit it off and spent a lot of time together but she began to push our relationship as if there were a time clock for milestones.
