[19M] I am wondering if I should go my own way

A month ago I left my girlfriend because she was being controlling and it began to take its toll on my other relationships with friends and family. I learned a lot about myself. I took a month of reflection, and I began to wonder if it is possible for someone like me to ever find someone compatible. I came across this movement called MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way), and although depressing, it made me realize how some of my relationships fell apart. When I realized that there was some truth to it, I read more about it. And was depressed to find that members of MGTOW adamantly believe that men should not date women. This made me lose a bit of hope. I'm a pretty independent person, and while I like having romantic relations with women, I often find that they don't allow me my own time or space at all. I don't know if that's just how all romantic relationships are? I spend pretty much all of my time indoors because it's cold where I live. So maybe it's just the relationships I have access to?

I'm torn between giving up on romantic relationships for life, and not. I'm sure I can find emotional fulfillment in other ways, but at the same time I'm not sure if I would be better off.

So I ask you men out there, am I doing something wrong? Should I go my own way? Should I keep trying, and if so, what should I do differently? I meet most gals I date online, is that bad?

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any advice. Sorry if I wasn't concise.
