I don't understand how people can have sex when they're not even that attracted to each other?

You hear a lot about random guys and girls hooking up and they're not even particularly attracted to each other, they just wanna get laid. I can't seem to do that? I've tried but there will just be a point during sex when I realise; oh wait, I'm not interested in this girl at all actually and I just lose interest immediately and lose my erection. I feel like most guys would just think, oh well, sex is sex. And then get the job done? Maybe?

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
