I want to ask out a girl in my class

Should i just go for it and brush it off if she shoots me down? She had a crush on me a year before the pandemic, nothing came of it as I didn’t know at the time and i got with another girl. Me and the other girl have broken up a few months ago and with school starting back i was wanting to ask her out to the movies or something.
