Don't blame yourself for that. I see it because I'm outside of it, but also because I deal with monsters for a living (am cop; work Homicide). What your ex chose to do is only one person's fault -- his. Any normal person would have given up, not verbally battered you into allowing infidelity, then stalked his next sexual interest.
