Do I shoot my shot?

I (35f) have known a man (almost 50??) almost my whole life. He is a former student of my mom’s who kind of out of nowhere became close with our family, he pops in and out. The last time I saw him he had seen my fb status where I had tagged where I was with my family and he just showed up. I just found out he got divorced, idk how long ago. But I am very attracted to him. I never thought about him like that until learning he’s divorced. He’s never ever given me any idea he would think of me romantically but again, he was married.

I saw him today. Nothing different about our interaction. I want to ask him out. I know it’s forward for a woman but idk, I wouldn’t mind even grabbing a beer with him sometime truthfully even if it’s not romantic. Is it weird? Should I do it? If I get rejected then I think it’ll be extremely weird… thoughts?
