Nice and shy or is there something?

So I (22M) have this girl (22F) in my lab (same lab, but different groups), which I have a big crush on. She seems very shy, and I am also a bit, nonetheless, I tried to approach her with small talk, but the conversations were all short and (at least to me) it seemed to exist some awkwardness in the air. When we pass each other in the hall, sometimes we smile at each other, we already "locked" eyes on each other several times and so on. Most of the times, she even greets me, although for instance, today she walked right past me without looking, but five minutes later smile in the hall again. Am a bit confused if she is just being nice or if there is something... I thought of sliding a note to her in the library asking her out, what you all think?

P.S. I am leaving for a small insternship in the end of February for three months...

My (27f) gf (27f) is getting tired of me not sharing intimate/ personal info about me

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
