I was told Its not going to work with no explanation. I need opinions and advice!

So I (25F) recently went on a date with a guy(24M) and I thought it went great we ate, we laughed, talk about future plans as far as life goes, got to know each other. He paid left a good tip and even gave me 20 dollars just In case I missed my bus and had to catch an Uber home(we both ride the bus). He held my had and kept me warm by putting his arm around my shoulder. He was really sweet.

We meet at one of the many transit centers and he was asking for help because he didn't know what bus to take. Not that this may be relevant, who knows maybe it is but he is hispanic and barely know much English so there was a major language barrier. He asked me for my number asked me a few questions. He asked questions like what do I like to do, how old I was, if I had any kids or a boyfriend etc, the asked me on a date.

We begin to plan our second date and he ask if he could keep my debit card until the day of the date because he wanted to put 200 dollars on it. Which I rejected because I mean we literally just met the other day. We would talk on the phone which was tough because well it was hard to understand him and he would get frustrated understandably so. I did feel that he thought I was dumb because I couldn't catch on but I mean it's not my fault. His English is just THAT bad. He text me good Morning and asked how my day was going to which I responded. After that nothing. So I wait. I texted him hey... then before bed sent a message saying that I hope that everything is good with him(hoping he is okay) and said goodnight. Welp this morning he sent a message that said something along the lines of :

" I don't think this will work. I have so much going on in my life right now and I rather hurt you a little right now than hurt you worse later sorry and Goodbye."

I mean at least he told me something right?

Red flags I noticed is that after knowing me for two days he was basically already asking me to be his roommate. The debit card thing was a HUGE red flag. He mentioned something about making money on the side that sounded more like a scam but basically I give him half of the money and keep the other half. I honestly feel like he was either look for a sponsor or looking for someone to help run a side hustle but wasn't really interested.

What do you guys think?

That date gave me the confidence boast I needed but know I feel like it was kicked right from underneath me. One thing I did learn is how I want to be treated though.
