/u/zerosum_0M on Do you ever feel like you are missing out on something?

For longer than I've identified as greyace, I've had the same issue with drugs. I never was interested in drugs and never tried them. I have nothing against people who use them recreationally and responsibly (I'd even support a certain level of legalization), but I've always felt they are just not for me. My whole life people have been telling me I've been missing out and that I can't know until I've tried them, but turns out I can and I just know it's not something I like or want and I don't feel like I'm missing out.

I've learned that just because people say something is essential for your life experience doesn't mean you have to agree with that. But then personally I'm rebellious when people tell me I simply "have to do something", like "you have to watch The Wire" because "it's the best thing ever". 😀
