Having engaging chat over messages?

I (M19) am using dating apps to just practice talking to girls, see where things go and such. Something I’ve found is, idk if I’m to blame but I feel I am, is that the convos are fairly dead. No matter who starts the conversation I try ask questions and start topics to chat about but they always just go to getting a couple words as an answer and then I’m forced to try continue from that.

Any advice on this sort of thing? For some reason they have near to no information in bios or pictures and give blunt answers/don’t ask questions back.

My (27f) gf (27f) is getting tired of me not sharing intimate/ personal info about me

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
