Husband is miserable trying to quit smoking, what can I do?

My husband and I have been together for 5 years. I’m 29 he’s 33. We have a home and a cat. Our life is pretty normal and boring. Ok so now onto my venting..My husband has been trying to quit smoking. I want him too, besides him being healthier we save money. It’s been a week and the past two days he’s been downright miserable and lashing out at me. We decided I can be a STAW for at least another year and the past two days he’s been making snide remarks about “how much gas did I use on HIS car” and how we need 3 jobs to pay off our debt. Yes we need more income and yes he knows I’ve been looking for work regardless of our agreement. (I have a few mental illnesses that really affect my life in case I get questioned..)I know it’s all coming down to him quitting smoking because before these past few days he’s never acted like this. How do I deal with a miserable husband? I’ve tried to say kind supportive things..I’ve been extremely patient with his moods but eventually if this keeps up I’m going to lash out. Does anyone have advice?
