flirting then ghosting?

so i knew this guy when i was in another relationship we were only friends even tho he said he was interested before i told him that i was taken, anyway now i’ve ended that relationship like 4 months ago we’ve been having some heavy flirting going on lately but it’s like we flirt and he like ghosts me for like a week, than do it again and ghosts again he never took the next step and never tried to get to know me more and i really don’t want to be the one who initiates cuz i feel like i am annoying cuz like if he wants to he would yk?, he never asked for something like nudes n stuff so it’s not like he’s getting something from this i just wanna know why is he doing this? is he waiting for me to take the first step? or is he not interested? but why would he flirt with me repeatedly, im thinking of dropping the whole thing

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
