He tells me he loves me when he’s drunk… we aren’t dating yet

(23F) I’ve been talking to (23M) for about 1.5 years off and on. We met in college and started as friends and things progressed from there. Things have been really good (we have the best communication we’ve had in our whole relationship and we’ve discussed more about our future) despite us living 2 hours away from each other.

Lately he has been texting me things like “I love you” and “You’re the best, I can’t wait to be with you forever” when he’s drunk. We haven’t had that conversation sober yet and we aren’t dating yet… I understand drunk thoughts are sober actions but it also feels like he’s playing with me a little bit. I’ve expressed that it makes me upset when he says things like that but I’m stuck.

From a guys perspective, what does this mean??

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now. We hit it off and spent a lot of time together but she began to push our relationship as if there were a time clock for milestones.
