Had a misread, kissed a girl when she wasn’t ready for it.

So I work at this restaurant (before anyone says don’t date your coworkers, it’s not my regular job, I help out there from time to time) and I became acquainted with this girl. On New Years I did a closing shift with her. As the night went on we talked a lot and i could tell she was flirting with me, so I asked her if she would like to get pizza with me after our shift, she said yes.

We went and talked the whole time, there was good chemistry, she would joke with me and flirt a bit. And I walked her back to her car. She asked if I wanted her number, I said yea and that I’d like to take her out sometime. Before we parted ways, she stretched her arms out for a hug with a big smile. We hugged and she gave me a big smooch on the cheek.

This is where I made an error. In my head, I was thinking that maybe she wants to kiss me, and I didn’t want to be the one giving her the cheek, so I pulled sorta just went for the kiss on the lips. It lasted about a second and she was like goodbye, so I said goodnight. I texted her a couple days later and she answered, but I tried to set up a date and she has not replied for almost a week now.

My question is, is it too late to apologize for the kiss? Will she think it’s weird that I’ve clearly been thinking about it for a week? Should I not apologize and just act like nothing happened if I see her again?

Don’t worry, I’m not blowing up her phone or anything, but is this an error your can’t recover from?
