Spiking her interest by leaving her on read

I’ve been talking to this girl for three months and we’ve gone on a handful of dates. I really enjoy her company and I could see myself in a relationship with her. However, she’s recently started to become less engaged and less responsive (it feels like she’s olaying games). I don’t want to appear needy or smother her. So would it be wrong for me leave her on read when I have nothing to say? Could that inadvertently spike her interest level?
