Just pay for the first date if you asked the person out and stfu :)

If you (she/her/he/him/them/they) have asked someone out on a first date and they agreed to join you, just pay. If you can’t afford to go to a restaurant and pay, don’t take them on a date to a restaurant, take them to a coffee shop or somewhere cheap, to a free park, or don’t date at all. You asked them for a date, it’s a nice gesture to not expect them to pay while they are in the position of assessing the fit while they agreed to spend their valuable time with you. You don’t have to ball out, but always pay on the first date and end this damn Reddit whack-a-mole once and for all.
