What can I do to let a guy know that I like him without telling him that I like him?

Title sounds like I’m playing games, but really I’m just trying to tread lightly as to not push any boundaries and make this person uncomfortable.

We’ve been quote-unquote “friends” for the last 9 months. Never kissed, never had sex, strictly platonic. We text every 3-5 days and only see each other when we plan a group hangout with friends. I make an effort to keep the communication going and as does he. He will always tell me how much he admires all that I do (my hobbies, how hard I work, etc) and appreciates my positive outlook on life.

Looking back on how I’ve interacted with him in the last 9 months, I can’t think of a time where I very clearly made my interest known.

Then last night I got really drunk with some of my girls (it’s my birthday weekend) and said fuck it, I’m gonna text him and turn up the flirt dial. I called him my “undisputed fave” and wished him a very happy long weekend. He texted me back and said that my message made his night, and that he was smiling.

That was the first time he has ever said something like that to me. It was very sweet and made me think for a second that he might like me back.

Help a girl out and let me know if I’m way in over my head here or if I have a chance with this guy 😭

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
