The problem with saying that "asexuals are far different from heterosexuals" is that some asexuals are willing to have sex with the same gender but not the opposite gender, but don't experience sexual attraction. It's a fact.

The asexual spectrum is separate from hetero/pan/homosexual. You can be heterosexual and asexual, because they are separate issues. One is about experiencing sexual attraction and the other is about which gender you prefer for sex.

Or is it? It gets complicated in the definition, though. Heterosexual is technically "sexually attracted to the opposite gender". So what would be the term for an asexual who would only have sex with the opposite gender? I have no idea.
