If you need being heteroromantic is more important to your identity than being ace, then absolutely!

Hell, the split attraction model isn’t for everyone, and if youd rather drop the ace as an identifier altogether because it’s not a big deal to you, that’s also fine!

Some aces feel that info is private, and would rather just go by their romantic orientation in public - that might be you too!

So basically, imho you can totally call yourself straight no problem, same way a homoromantic asexual can call themself gay.
