/u/atomant88 on A friend said something and I don't know why it keeps bothering me

both are valid. avowed asexuals are valid. people who question themselves and change their labels are valid

i'd say the only thing that's 'invalid' is not letting yourself feel your genuine feelings, and instead relying on a label to define you.

question everything. but cling to what feels true

for years i clung to being 'normal' and didnt allow myself to explore my sexuality, or lack of sexuality. and that sucked. i kept thinking i'd force myself to be normal eventually, or get used to being normal eventually. and never stopped to really feel who i was inside. i was numb. and dead inside. because what i felt inside was 'wrong' . thats the danger of labels.
