Open to either monogamy or non-monogamy

As a German I am just getting to know OK Cupid. Before that, I had been using Tinder exclusively, it's the most popular dating app around here. Anyway, there seem to be quite a few people on this app too and what I like about OK Cupid, it gives information about people's intent, as opposed to Tinder.

What I find particularly interesting is the fact that so many people on there tick the field that they are open to monogamy as well as non-monogamy. And many are looking for hook ups and short time dating. I actually think only a minority of people is like me, exclusively straight, only interested in long term dating, monogamous.

I guess I am just surprised, there's of course nothing wrong with that, but so few people seek the type off connection I am looking for, it's just noticeable.

What does short time dating even mean? Any Americans care to enlighten me? Is there any point talking to a guy who is open to that considering what I am looking for?

Anyway, I am just confused now, I guess. And just wondering, how am I ever going to find my match 😅.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
