why do men suddenly ghost people they "liked"?

The last man (26) I talked to stopped talking to me last week, we used to talk 24/7 (text and phone calls). He suddenly started texting less and I did the test to see if he would talk to me if I didn't write to him first (we didn't speak for two days). When I confronted him about he said he was busy with school, I mean I'm not asking to tell me what you're doing all the time (I also work so I'm not on my phone for at least 5 hours when I'm at work). He invited me to concerts and things, and there were a few days were I couldn't call at night as usual and he told me that the next they we had a mandatory call because he missed me, so I think he liked me... I don't know, men are so confusing

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
