Was I getting played by this girl? Super confusing situation with girl I was talking to

This girl approached me at a bar right before the school semester ended, got her number, and we went on a date. After the date she said she wanted to hangout again so we hungout at the bars together on the last night of school. Afterwords, I walked her home, she grabbed my hand, and we hugged goodbye. She told me she wanted to hangout during the summer once we got back home.

During the summer she gave mixed signals. She told me she was excited to see me but bailed on a date, then unfollowed me and stopped our snap streak. I asked her what was up and she said she wanted to hangout still, just was using social media less and was super busy. Then she texted me saying she was going to be more free but never responded to my text about a potential date. We stopped texting each other.

A month later she came back apologizing and explaining what had been up, telling me she had been involved in drama with a girl who was dating one of my friends. She said she didn't want me to get involved and that's why she hadn't reached out cuz she was unsure what to do. We start talking again, she was super flirty, and she starts texting me every day. She says she sees us potentially dating and tells me I'm cute and adorable, and so we plan a date out. She also screenshots one of my snapchats which was confusing. A few days before the date she says her wisdom teeth recovery is having complications and she needs another week before she can go out. I then see her snap story and she's out at dinner before she removes me from her private snapchat story.

The next day she confirms that the date won't work and I tell her that something seems up. She gets defensive and I tell her she can let me know if she wants to hangout. That night I see on her friends story that she is with her and she is magically fine. We haven't talked since. Fast forward to the school year, my friend sees her at a bar and asks her about me. She tells him that I'm nice but that I couldn't take the hint and that she told me she was seeing someone else (which is not true). Did she just play me? Did she genuinely have interest? Bad communication or timing? Super confused.
