Why would you pull away after a girl you’re pursuing starts to show interest?

Sigh. Here we go again. So I met someone on a dating app. Initially I wasn’t into him, found him a bit annoying, and don’t even remember swiping right on him but decided to give him a chance because what the hey. He was very enthusiastic and would talk to me daily, always the one to initiate, always wish me good night and good morning, and ask about my day, etc. After talking for about 3 weeks, idk something changed in me and I started to find him very sweet. I admired his persistence, and thought to myself that I’d be down to go out with him. But right after I started showing interest he pulls away, slow fades, takes forever to respond. Wtf is this? I tried indirectly asking him, and he said he was really busy with work and school and family issues. Sure, adults have busy lives. But my goodness, how do you go from being so persistent to ghost mode so suddenly, and coincidentally after I start showing interest too. Like whyyy?

Is he playing games? Or is he actually busy? I’ve been patient, but he left me on read and he hasn’t texted in 2 weeks. So I’m done. I’m gone. He can only blame himself. I’m not playing this game.

I’m so sick of this shit. Like why tf do you lead me on in the beginning, if you don’t actually have any intentions whatsoever. Is he just shy? Intimidated by me? Not interested anymore? Got hit by a truck?

Should I check up on him? Or just let it be and move on? I’m leaning towards the latter, because if he’s indeed in some sort of situation, wouldn’t he eventually text me back with an apology and explanation? Or am I expecting too much? Whatever, I should just move on.

My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse.
