Looking for advice on DIY silicone dildo molding

My partner and I live about a 30 minute drive apart and tend to only spend weekends together since we're both pretty busy. Because of this I've been investing more in sex toys primarily for solo play and we're interested in making a silicone mold of his penis that I can use when we're apart.

Has anyone had success with this? I'm wondering if its better to buy a kit or DIY the whole thing. If anyone has any tips on how to do this i'd love to hear it!
