This girl(21) I like is very shy and so am I. I am(26) planning on giving her gifts to show that I like her, is this a good or bad idea?

We are both in our mid 20’s and both are very shy. She has given me a Japanese mug, two hand knitted characters from anime we both like, and one of her favorite books to read.

I told her I would like to pay her for the gifts but she insisted that it was okay and refused any payment. I told her that maybe I could make her something in return( I am a Apprentice Sculptor). I am currently working on making her favorite anime character. She said that she would like that.

In the meantime I have bought her a mug as well from an anime she likes, I also bought her a book mark from another anime she likes because she loves to read and loves to drink tea. I also got her a copy of my favorite book and very cute gift box and wrapping.

Do you think this is a good idea or maybe it would scare her? I just wanted to return the favor because the gifts meant a lot to me, I’ve been very lonely lately and going through the hardest time in my life and she made me something for Christmas and it was the only gift I received.

Her gift was like a bonfire to me in a cold and dark night. Do you think she would get a hint that I like her? I don’t want to make her uncomfortable.. I want to be respectful. Usually I’m the one being asked out by someone very extroverted, considering I am so introverted. I’m pretty rusty on all this trying to date sort of thing..

I’ve always been extremely private and introverted. My (23M) girlfriend (25F) relationship is confusing to me. I might be the problem, or maybe we are just incompatible.

I met my girlfriend after a few serious breakups that led me to change both intentionally and unintentionally over a few years. For better and for worse. She had just gotten out of an engagement with a verbally and physically abusive man who had a cocaine problem. We have been together about 8 months now.
