Being asexual isn't related to wanting or not wanting sex, it is first and foremost not experiencing sexual attraction. Of course there are many varients of this, such as demisexuality where you are only sexually attracted to people you were already very close to the person emotionally, or gray-ace where you just experience it a lot less than normal. as with anything its a spectrum.

You can have sexual desire (a want to have sex) without being attracted to anyone (or just few)
