How do you respond to non conversation starters?

I get messages that just say hi, or you're beautiful/ gorgeous. How are you supposed to respond to that? Say thanks?? I don't think I'm ugly but I'm not like beautiful or anything.. I just get flabbergasted when I get these messages. Should I just continue to overlook these messages? What are you supposed to do? Men: what is the expected reply? Because I mostly don't even respond to these. Submitted February 02, 2021 at 12:02AM I get messages that just say hi, or you're beautiful/ gorgeous. How are you supposed to respond to that? (24M) Need Advice. Scared of committing to anything serious.

So about 2 years ago now my last serious relationship (GF) ended on a mutual note but in a kind way and we helped each other through the breakup as we were both going in different directions in life and still maintain a friendship. We dated mostly Long Distance for almost 6 years. Ever since the break up I've been on a few dates and talked to a lot of people and realized I was also Bi. That being said though I noticed anytime something between me and a potential partner was getting serious I would back off because I didn't want to get into anything because I didn't want to get hurt again to such an extent as I took the last breakup really bad. Didn't do anything bad or anything like that just was questioning everything about the relationship. It took time but I slowly came to understand that it was us both going in vastly different directions with the major things in life. I'm not angry about it anymore but I do still have this major fear of committing to a relatio...

Question for girls - When is a missed opportunity?

I see this girl regularly but never made a move. I can tell she's open to it but I'm not sure if it's too late. It's been about 2-3 months taking the same class at school but I've just come to the realization that I want to sack up and approach. My question is would she now think I'm a dead end because it's been so long and I never picked up on her interest? How to respond when a work colleague mistakes friendliness for being interested in them [24M]

Hey everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. [24M] I am due to start work at a company as a grad, and have been communicating with my fellow grads mainly virtually via video calls and messenger. One of my fellow grads (F, not sure of her age) seems to like me and is quite openly flirting with me, but I am not interested in her. I have only met this girl once in person while collecting my laptop from the company’s office but we have added each other on messenger. I do not believe I’ve done anything beyond being friendly and making small talk with her, as I have done with a number of my other fellow grads. My initial theory is that she has come to mistakenly believe my being friendly means that I am interested in her. The only other theory I have is that she is attracted to me on the basis of looks although this is doubtful as I’m nothing special and my fb profile is not flash because I hardly use it anymore. In addition to not being interested in this girl that way, I have decid...

/u/ForTheSquids on I’m so confused. Can I know my sexual orientation and still be asexual? Do people actually normally experience sexual thoughts randomly?

So theres a lot to unpack here. It's possible to have some orientation toward one gender and still be asexual or demisexual. A lot of people might experience a division of sexual and romantic attraction. So it's possible you might be more romantically inclined towards specific genders or individuals. Sometimes people feel sexual attraction only when they are deeply romantically involved with an individual as well. I've also met individuals with high libidos, so they desire engaging in sexual acts either with a partner or without but aren't sexually attracted to their partners. I think it's important to just understand that there are others like you, no matter your preference. It may take time to figure out what works for you but if you are honest with yourself and others, discovering this stuff can be a good experience rather than stressful one. :/ Not sure I helped answer any of your questions, I think many on the sub might have other thoughts as we've all ha...
